The qualification is achieved by on-site assessments. This means one of our experienced assessors will visit the candidate on-site and observe them installing fences; we will write up reports and take photos, linking them to the qualification standards. We will visit between 3 and 6 times depending on the work we have been able to observe and the experience of the candidate. FaCT makes this as effective as possible: the candidate undertakes the fencing, and we handle the paperwork and prepare the portfolio of evidence. The one thing we do ask the candidates to complete is a set of questions to assess their basic knowledge of fencing; however, if they struggle with reading and writing, we can support them with this.
For experienced fencers, this can be a relatively quick process of just 2 to 4 site visits to confirm their skills and abilities, over just a few weeks. For those new to the industry, this will take longer, and we will enable them to learn and develop their skills as they progress.
This is the qualification required by all general fence installers who need to hold a Blue FISS/CSCS to meet NHSS and installers card to meet your clients or NHSS requirements

This is flexable, and up to the candidate mainly on how thy progress, but between 2 and 12 monthsfa-clock

Most fence installers are required to hold the FISS/CSCS Blue Installers skills card. The Level 2 Diploma in Fencing is the main requirement for fence installers to enable them to hold this Blue FISS/CSCS card, along with health and safety training and testing (FaCT can also deliver this for you). FaCT delivers both the General Fence and the full range of VRS Fencing qualifications. This is the qualification for all Fence Installers
Strained Systems
This route comprises of:
Seven mandatory (M) units
Four mandatory/optional units (MO)
One optional (O) unit.

Learners undertaking the strained wire systems route will provide evidence from the installation of strained wire fencing systems, e.g. stock fencing.
Non-strained Systems
This route comprises of:
Eight mandatory (M) units
Three mandatory/optional units (MO)
One optional (O) unit.
Learners must achieve the mandatory units, plus one mandatory/optional unit.
Learners may choose to enhance their qualification with any of the optional units available.
Learners completing the non-strained systems route will provide evidence from
installation of non-strained fencing systems e.g. post and panel.
Learners undertaking the non-strained fence systems route will provide evidence from the installation of these fencing systems, e.g. Post & Rail, Close Board, Palisade.
The learner can opt to include the strained wire units and also be assessed on strained wire to gain both routes of the qualification
